What Does Device Relationship Management (DRM) Mean?

Device relationship management (DRM) refers to the monitoring and maintenance of complex equipment over the Internet. DRM capabilities are usually part of a larger enterprise-class remote monitoring and management (RMM) application. DRM is designed to interact with devices that have microprocessors and/or onboard software that monitors status. If a device doesn’t have the required software or hardware, it can be installed to bring the device into the overall system.

DRM allows an organization to monitor and schedule maintenance for all of its devices. This includes everything from printers to data storage systems and IT infrastructure. DRM goes beyond preventative maintenance by giving organizations in-depth usage statistics, diagnostics and so on. DRM can be integrated into other enterprise applications, such as enterprise customer relationship management (CRM), to schedule maintenance on customer devices and monitor performance.
