Techopedia Explains Netscape Communications
The company was originally named Mosaic Communications Corporation, but it changed its name to Netscape Communications Corporation in 1994. It was innovations by Netscape that allowed commerce to take place online, encouraged websites to become graphical and generally pushed the boundaries of what could be done online. Netscape Communications was purchased by AOL in 1998, following the browser wars that saw Netscape Navigator lose the majority market share to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.Advertisement
